The desk

How a job runs

The same sequence for a cabinet, a camera, a mailbox move, or a machine that will not start. Look first. Write the scope. Then do the work.

  1. The message

Phone, WhatsApp, or the form. Say the site, what has to change, and who can walk us through it. A sentence is enough to start. A guess is not enough to price.

  2. A look

On the site when the work is in the room: the cabinet, the roof, the cameras, the cable. Remote when the fault can be seen from a session. The scope is written from that look, not from a catalogue.

  3. The scope

What is included, what is not, and the price, in writing, before the paid work starts. Travel outside Nairobi is part of that note.

  4. The work

Install, repair, cutover, or supply. Cables dressed, paths labelled, and the cabinet left so the next person can see what is what.

  5. The note

You keep a short record of what was found and what was changed. Equipment you bought is yours. Passwords we were given can be changed before we leave.

What this desk is not

We are not a 24-hour security operations centre. We do not publish a response time, and the brands in the photographs are not a partnership claim. If the job needs a contracted minute-by-minute promise, say so in the first message. We will tell you whether this is the right desk.

What to have in the first message

  • Where the site is, including the town if it is not Nairobi.
  • What you want done, in the words you would use with a colleague.
  • How many people it affects, if you know.
  • A name and a phone for the person who can open the door or share a screen.
  • Anything that must not be switched off during working hours.
